Kitchenarian Road Trip – Dining With the Dinosaurs

by kitchenarian on December 20, 2010

I promised to bring you along on my holiday road trip. Disney World is such a magical place. My family, all 13 of us, have settled down for the week in Orlando. We arrived in four cars bringing lots of luggage, a crazy amount of food, holiday decorations and one Christmas tree to make our home this week feel all cozy and Christmas-y.

Day 1 in Disney we spent a relaxing morning together and then headed out to Downtown Disney to experience a bit of the magic before we completely immerse ourselves in the Magic Kingdom later in the week.

Today we dined with the dinosaurs. We ate lunch together at T Rex, a restaurant in Downtown Disney.

Here are a few of the highlights:

So, on to the food.  We had a lot of good food at this restaurant.  Here is just a sampling of what some of us ate for lunch:

The Pteradactyl Salad was roasted chicken, mixed greens, celery, tomatoes, bleu cheese crumbles, chopped egg and bacon all tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

The Gigantosaurus Burger was an impressive item to see and even more impressive to watch my son eat!  It consisted of two 100% beef patties piled high with a fried onion ring, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and your choice of cheese.

The Footprints flatbread was made of warm flatbread topped with cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan and goat cheese, rotisserie chicken and carmelized onions, drizzled with a balsamic glaze.

What a great day we had.  Disney sure knows how to do it right.  After lunch, we walked off our lunch by doing a little shopping and a little sight-seeing.  Stay tuned for more highlights of our Disney adventure this week.

I’m so envious! I’m sure this must be an enchanting time of year to be there! How fun to see what you are eating (I’ll be waiting for a photo of the Mickey ice cream bar). What a fun restaurant too! Will be anxiously awaiting the next installment!
