How To Use Chopsticks

by kitchenarian on July 20, 2012

I am sending my second child off to college next month.

Hard to imagine, but true. This is my pizza eatin’, lacrosse lovin’, firefightin’ boy. In preparing for his departure, I left two printouts on his desk this week: one was “How To Use Chopsticks” and the other was “How To Tie a Bowtie”. These are skills that all boys need to know as they make their way into the world. He uses cheater chopsticks at home. He probably would not like people knowing that, so please don’t tell anybody.

Do you know that if you google “how to use chopsticks” on the internet, you come up with about 967,000 results. That accounts for a lot of opinions on the proper technique for eating with chopsticks. I figured if my son needs to know how to properly use chopsticks with which to eat his sushi, then maybe some of you out there would appreciate a lesson as well. According to my son, it’s not quite as easy as it looks!

How To Use Chopsticks:

How NOT To Use Chopsticks:

These are really funny. I found them here. If you still can’t figure out this chopsticks thing or don’t care to, then take a look at these cheater chopsticks. They are fun and helpful! If you have any tips or pointers on how to eat with chopsticks, please let me know.

Oh, yes, I almost forgot. If you also need to know how to tie a bowtie, you can use this link. Have a great Friday!

Love the sushi etiquette! Great link. Chopsticks are so colorful and artistic. I bought all the ones pictured as a set from Sur la Table. I am sure your collection is beautiful!
