He mentioned a few suggestions such as queso with chorizo or guacamole, but I had an ulterior motive and nudged him in this direction. Secretly I have been wanting to make this cake for like forever but never seemed to get around to it, so I seized the opportunity, sorta, and suggested that he make it for school. And he did!

I love putting on the first sweater when the evenings get chilly, fixing the first fire in the fireplace and pulling out my Le Creuset pot and making the first soup or chili of the season. I love all the colors and flavors of fall.

What is fall without pumpkins? I love the family outing to the pumpkin patch, picking the perfect pumpkins and, of course, the carving of the pumpkins. And then there is the baking. Pumpkin is so delicious, whether baked into a sweet pie or served with pasta for a savory meal.

It has been a less than stellar week. I have a cold. It has prevented any amount of productivity that I had planned for the past week. I have some articles that I need to write, but when I have a head cold my brain slows down and words just seem to get stuck in […]

I love fall. It is my favorite season. September is when I come alive and cook and clean and get all organized. Maybe it is the whole back to school thing – a new beginning sort of; I’m not quite sure. Maybe it’s the cool, crisp mornings that seem to get me motivated. Whatever the […]

It’s getting crazy here. Lots of lists, lots of shopping trips and last minute preparations as we prepare two children for college. The dining room table is disappearing under the load of dorm essentials that must be bought for the freshman boy. Sous Chef needs little assistance as she stores most of her items off-campus […]

It won’t be easy. Sending my second child off to college. It doesn’t matter that I have already been down that road with Sous Chef. My oldest child, and only daughter, left for college three years ago. I cried before she left, I sobbed when I had to tell her goodbye and I quietly wept […]

I am camping out…. ..on the couch watching the Olympics. I am not alone. Our whole family is sitting on the edge of their seats as we cheer on Team USA. All this cheering and yelling requires a lot of energy, so we need to have the proper snackage. I love snack mixes and snacking […]
